“All literature began with the ancient art of storytelling. Our ancestors told stories to entertain each other, to comfort each other, to instruct the young in the lessons of living, to pass on their religious and cultural heritage. Storytelling is an integral part of every world culture.”-David Russell

Tips from the teacher:
“It is important to remember that the art is an extension of the literature and not an end in itself. In other words, we are not reading Pinocchio for the purpose of making our own puppet when we are finished—the art project should become a meaningful part of the study of the literature, helping children to understand and appreciate the literature.”
Illustration Tips:
All illustration must be cohesive (use same style/technique/constraint per page)
Pay attention to detail
How do you phase the art out/illustration on the paper?, i.e : what do the surroundings on each page look like?
Pick the best (not first idea to mind) part of story in that page to illustrate!
